TERMS OF BUSINESS
We are a member of The National Society of Allied & Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF), and subscribe to its current Code of Practice, a copy of which is available upon request.
We will act in a professional manner and provide a courteous, sensitive and dignified service to you.
Professional Services
These include all arrangements in connection with the funeral, assistance and advice in matters relating to the funeral, attendance and services of staff and the administration of all documentation.
Payment of Account
Near & Near Undertakers Ltd operates a pricing policy in compliance with the Code of Practice of the National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors and the Competition & Markets Authority (CMA).
Our price list provides clients with a full and detailed explanation of our charges as required by the CMA.
In addition to our charges, disbursements will be paid, when applicable, to Doctors, Minister of Religion or Celebrant, Cemetery or Crematoria and the like.
When the funeral arrangements are completed you will be given a written estimate of all the charges incurred for the service you have requested.
We require the Funeral Arrangements Sheet to be signed as confirmation that you accept our Terms of Business, the charges and the liability for payment of the account within 14 days of the funeral service taking place. The account is usually sent to you prior to the funeral service taking place. If wished, the account may be forwarded to a solicitor, but, i) We must be made aware of this and ii) The account is still required to be paid in full within 14 days of the funeral.
For the ‘Unattended Service’ or ‘Simple Service’ funeral, full payment must be made within 48 hours of making the arrangements.
For the ‘Attended Service’ funeral, all disbursements must be paid within 48 hours of making the arrangements.
Failure to meet these conditions may result in the delay or postponement of the funeral.
We reserve the right to add interest at 8% per annum above the base rate of Barclays Bank Plc on accounts, part or full, that remain unpaid 14 days following the Funeral Service, together with any legal and/or court costs incurred due to non-payment.
We also reserve the right to retain the Cremated Remains of the relevant deceased should the contract between both parties not be fulfilled ie. Full settlement of the Funeral Invoice.
If, because of your circumstances, you need to make an application for financial assistance from the Department of Work and Pensions, be aware that stringent rules as to the amount of help available do apply. (Please note that this process may delay the Funeral Service)

Right to Cancel (Arrangements made in the client’s home only)
You have the right to cancel the contract.
This contract can ONLY be cancelled by the person making the funeral arrangements and by sending or taking the signed cancellation notice to the funeral director and that notice being received within the period of 14 days commencing on the day of making the funeral arrangement.
The right to cancel can be lost if the service is accepted and provided, in full, before the cancellation period of 14 Days has elapsed.
Payment will be required for any services carried out or any disbursements paid, relative to the said funeral service, from the date of acceptance of the contract for the said funeral service until the cancellation notice is received.
